Vodafone Business, Maroc Telecom Partner to Accelerate Digital Solutions
Doha – Vodafone Business and Maroc Telecom signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday to deliver connectivity services and digital solutions to Moroccan businesses, initially focusing on smart city and energy management solutions.
This strategic partnership strengthens Vodafone’s presence in Africa, where the group already operates in eight countries through Vodacom, and supports Morocco’s ambition to become “a major digital hub by 2030.”
The collaboration will gradually expand to cover a complete range of business products and services, including software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN), private mobile networks, cloud solutions, and cybersecurity.
“The new partnership leverages international technological infrastructure developed by Vodafone Business alongside Maroc Telecom’s territorial anchoring and deep knowledge of the local economic fabric,” a spokesperson said.
Clients will be able to customize Vodafone Business connectivity services and digital platforms, combining them with Maroc Telecom’s local expertise to meet their specific needs and comply with the country’s regulatory requirements.
The two operators will also address the needs of Maroc Telecom’s multinational and regional clients operating in key sectors such as “logistics, manufacturing, retail, and public services” by offering a unified portfolio of managed services that can be rapidly deployed across various markets.
The clients will be provided with comprehensive pre-sales and after-sales services, including billing, implementation, and management.
This partnership comes as Morocco prepares to roll out 5G technology in November, ahead of the African Cup of Nations. According to the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT), the country aims to provide 5G access to 25% of its population by the end of 2025, expanding to 70% by 2030.
In March, Maroc Telecom and Inwi formed two joint ventures — FiberCo, which plans to install one million fiber optic connections in the next two years, and TowerCo, which will build 2,000 telecommunications towers by 2028.
This investment program, estimated at MAD 4.4 billion ($440 million), aims to optimize costs and accelerate national coverage through shared infrastructure.
