Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines formalise joint business partnership

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and
Singapore Airlines (SIA) have officially confirmed the
establishment of their joint business partnership, following
regulatory approvals in both countries, TTG Asia
reports.

The Civil Aviation Authority of
Malaysia
granted its approval in January 2026, building on earlier
clearance from the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore
in July 2025. With these approvals secured, both airlines will
begin progressively rolling out measures to deepen their commercial
cooperation.

Planned initiatives include
revenue-sharing services on routes between Malaysia and Singapore,
the introduction of joint fare products, coordinated flight
schedules, and joint corporate travel programmes. Further details
will be announced as each initiative is implemented.

The partnership aims to
strengthen connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore, offering
travellers greater flexibility and more seamless travel options
between the two markets.

Since signing their initial
agreement in October 2019, MAS and SIA have steadily expanded their
codeshare arrangements. Currently, SIA codeshares on MAS flights
between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, London Heathrow, and 15
domestic destinations within Malaysia. Meanwhile, MAS codeshares on
SIA services between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and Penang, as well
as long-haul routes to Barcelona, Brussels, Cape Town, Copenhagen,
Istanbul, Johannesburg, London Heathrow, Rome, and
Zurich.

In February 2024, the two
carriers introduced reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, allowing
members of MAS’s Enrich and SIA’s KrisFlyer programmes to earn
points and miles on selected flights operated by either
airline.

Commenting on the partnership, Izham bin Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation
Group
, said the collaboration brings together complementary flight
frequencies and aligned schedules, enhancing connectivity between
the two countries while strengthening Malaysia Airlines’ scale,
relevance, and network resilience.

SIA Chief Executive Officer Goh
Choon Phong
described the arrangement as a “win-win collaboration”
that strengthens both airlines’ operations and delivers greater
value to customers across their combined networks. He added that
the partnership also reinforces long-standing people-to-people ties
and trade links between Singapore and Malaysia, supporting broader
economic growth and regional connectivity.
